Air Fryer Tempeh

Ingredients

8 ounces tempeh, cut into 1/2-inch strips or cubes
1 tablespoon olive oil, or any preferred oil
1 tablespoon soy sauce, or tamari for gluten-free
1 tablespoon maple syrup, optional for a touch of sweetness
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger, optional
Salt and pepper to taste

Directions

Slice the tempeh into strips or cubes based on your preference. For a softer texture, steam the tempeh for 5-10 minutes before marinating (optional for firmer texture).

In a bowl, combine olive oil, soy sauce, maple syrup, garlic powder, smoked paprika, ginger, salt, and pepper. Add the sliced tempeh, tossing to coat evenly, and let it marinate for 10-15 minutes, or up to 30 minutes for more flavor.
Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).

Place the marinated tempeh in the air fryer basket in a single layer, working in batches if necessary. Air fry for 10-12 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.

Once done, remove the tempeh from the air fryer and let it cool slightly. Serve it over rice, in salads, wraps, or enjoy it as a tasty, protein-packed snack!
