Air Fryer Jalapeño Popper Chicken Casserole
Ingredients
8 ounces cream cheese
1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
1 large jalapeno, de-seeded and diced
¼ cup green onion, diced
1 cup sour cream
1 tablespoon garlic salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon minced garlic
3 large chicken breasts
2 slices thick cut bacon, diced
Directions
In a large bowl, place the cream cheese. Heat it in the microwave for 30-45 seconds. This softens the cream cheese, making it easier to mix with the other ingredients.
Once the cream cheese is softened, add the shredded cheddar cheese, diced jalapeño, diced green onion, sour cream, garlic salt, black pepper, and minced garlic to the bowl. Stir the mixture until all the ingredients are well combined.
Take an oven-safe dish (or tin) that can fit into your air fryer, and place the chicken breasts in it. If your chicken breasts are thick, consider pounding them to an even thickness for uniform cooking.
Spoon the cream cheese mixture onto the chicken breasts, spreading it evenly over the top of each breast.
Sprinkle the diced bacon pieces over the cream cheese mixture. The bacon will add a nice smoky flavor and a bit of crunch to the dish.
Place the dish in the air fryer and cook at 350°F for 20-30 minutes. The cooking time may vary based on the size of your chicken breasts and the specific model of your air fryer.
Depending on your air fryer and how close the burner is to the food, you may need to cover the dish with aluminum foil to prevent over-browning or burning of the topping.
Ensure the chicken is cooked through by checking its internal temperature with a meat thermometer. The safe internal temperature for chicken is 165°F.
Once cooked, remove the dish from the air fryer and let it rest for a few minutes before serving. This rest time allows the chicken to reabsorb its juices, ensuring it’s moist and flavorful.
