Air Fryer Sweet and Sour Chicken Wings
Ingredients
1 ½ pounds chicken wings
2 tablespoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1 teaspoon paprika
To Make a Sauce:
1/2 cup white wine vinegar
1/4 cup pineapple juice
1/4 cup ketchup
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon reduced-sodium soy sauce
1 teaspoon Sriracha sauce
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 tablespoon water
3/4 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds
Directions
Preheat your air fryer to 400 F (200 C) for 5 minutes. Spray the air fryer basket with nonstick cooking spray.
Pat chicken wings dry with paper towels. In a small mixing bowl, combine baking powder, salt, black pepper, and paprika. Stir well and pour the mixture into a resealable plastic bag. Working in batches, place chicken wings into the bag and shake until wings are well coated. Repeat the same way with the remaining wings.
Place seasoned wings in the air fryer basket. Fry at 380 F (190 C) for 22 minutes, flipping them halfway through.
To make a sauce: In a small saucepan, combine vinegar, pineapple juice, ketchup, brown sugar, soy sauce, Sriracha sauce, and sesame oil. Stir well and bring to a boil over medium heat. Reduce heat to low and simmer, stirring occasionally. In a small mixing bowl, combine cornstarch and water. Stir well and pour into the saucepan. Whisk quickly until the sauce thickens, for about 1 minute.
Increase the fryer temperature to 400 F (200 C). Fry wings for a further 2 minutes, or until crispy and brown.
Remove fried wings from the air fryer and transfer them to a serving plate. Pour the sauce over the fried wings. Toss well. Sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds. Serve hot.
